Would it surprise you to know there are 20 campgrounds in and around Wisconsin Dells? And that the number of campsites exceeds 3,200? And that the scenery to go with the camping is a one gargantuan free amenity?
In just about five minutes time any direction from the Dells’ city center you can be pulling into a campground. And yet you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from whatever it is you want to escape - work, rush hour commutes, carpooling, chores around the house. So much of the credit for this escape plan has to go to Mother Nature, what with the Wisconsin River literally bisecting the community and the acres of pine forests and farmlands hugging the community.
With so many choices, you can choose to pitch a tent on a primitive wooded site and take advantage of hiking trails or quiet isolated sites that allow everyone to kick back without neighbors hovering over your shoulder. If you like to keep busy, choose a campground that features daily activities like hayrides, movies, contests, disk golf and campfires. Sports enthusiasts should look for facilities offering pools, tennis, basketball, volleyball and mini golf.
And if it is water you love, it comes in all forms, either naturally from the lakes and Wisconsin River or man-made pools and water playgrounds.
You’re welcome to camp out on our doorstep any time.
