Snow blow yourself out of your driveway and get to Wisconsin Dells, where you can reacquaint yourself with the recreational qualities of snow. Like snowmobiling, sledding, skating, skiing, snow tubing – you name, we have it here. In Wisconsin Dells, there are miles and miles of snowmobile trails criss-crossing the scenic countryside, so bring your sled. We also recommend Cascade Mountain Ski, Snowboard & Snow Tube for those who prefer barreling downhill. There are candlelight cross-country ski, hike and snowshoe events at Mirror Lake State Park.
When in Wisconsin Dells, expect things out of the ordinary, in a good way that is. Like zip lining in the winter. BigFoot Zipline, with six lines that take you above and through majestic red pine and white oak forests, is open year-round, for example. And over at Vertical Illusions, an adventure outfitter known for its kayak and rock climbing tours in the summer, their experienced guides will take you on a climb of a frozen waterfall. Talk about seeing the beauty of the area in a whole new light! They also have something called a snowshoe zip line tour, new for 2012.
The snow scenery from the vantage point of the Downtown Dells RiverWalk is awesome. The community even has a charming outdoor ice rink at Bowman Park in Downtown Dells. For something unexpected, how about riding horseback through the snow? Red Ridge Ranch Riding Stable and Canyon Creek Riding Stables are accepting reservations.
