Getting everyone together for Christmas may be on a par with moving mountains. We’re here to move mountains with ideas that involve snow inside (yes, you read that right) and snow outside at area mountains.
Wisconsin Dells is a magical place at the holidays, and for proof of that statement look no farther than this particularly shining example: Every year for Christmas, Great Wolf Lodge creates “Snowland” inside the resort, with real snow-making machines in the lobby, twinkling lights and gingerbread houses. Nighttime readings of the holiday book “Unique as a Snowflake” and lots of holiday-themed activities for the little ones add to the memories. This winter wonderland runs from November 25-January 1.
Pair that inside snow with the real-deal outdoor stuff. Cascade Mountain Ski, Snowboard & Snow Tube has a half-dozen different ticket options, plus kids 12 and younger ski free when accompanied by a paid adult. There are 36 trails here to satisfy beginners taking a lesson to experienced skiers out for a challenge.
Christmas Mountain Village Ski, Snowboard & Tube has 16 downhill runs from beginner to black diamond and a variety of trails too. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing offer a more slowed-down pace to savor the breathtaking views. Rent a GoPro to capture it all. Spend the night in one of their cozy cabins or timber vacation homes.
