Are you feeling your family holiday gatherings have become entirely ho-hum instead of ho-ho-ho? Banish that “bah humbug” sentiment with a dose of Wisconsin Dells merriment when you start a new tradition of gathering everyone in the Dells for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Eve. The waterpark resorts are giddy with excitement already, as evidenced by this festive rundown:
Chula Vista Resort: Chula will be hosting a Thanksgiving buffet with all the traditional favorites, and they’ll have plenty of festive family activities and crafts going too. In December, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, bundle up for a wagon ride around the grounds, pen a letter to the North Pole, join in Santa’s Winter Wonderland craft workshops, schedule an elf tuck-in, play holiday bingo, participate in scavenger hunts, create Hanukkah crafts, create an ornament to decorate the resort and decorate holiday cookies. You can ring in the New Year with a DJ dance party, teen arcade and kids carnival.
Great Wolf Lodge: The Thanksgiving day buffet will run from 2-8pm. You’ll find all your favorite festive foods, alongside popular activities like Story Time and the Great Clock Tower Show. Later in the season enjoy Snowland Story Time with Rowdy the Reindeer, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, carol-along with Santa, schedule a meal inside the life-sized gingerbread house large enough for six guests, pen a letter to Santa and make holiday-themed crafts. On New Year’s Eve, the celebration is aptly referred to as Snowball and will feature music and more fun family activities.
Wilderness Resort: Enjoy the expansive Thanksgiving buffet and all the amenities this resort has to offer. During Christmas-time you can have your photo taken with Santa, decorate cookies with Santa’s elves, arrange for Santa’s elves to make special deliveries to your room, and enjoy the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day buffets.
Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park: Visit with Santa and tell him what’s on your wish list while enjoying complimentary cookies and milk with the jolly old elf. If your visit coincides with some favorable snowy weather, you’ll enjoy skiing and snow tubing with your stay. The New Year’s Eve party here includes a live DJ, complimentary champagne toast and balloon drop.
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions: Kalahari will host their own version of the classic Thanksgiving day buffet. Over Christmas, join in festive activities daily in the Kalahari Adventurers Club, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and enjoy the tree lighting ceremony each evening in the main lobby. Ring in the new year with a spectacular buffet, party and family fun.
Don’t forget about the additional lodging options in town. There are big condos and spacious cabins that can host your entire family if you prefer a little more solitude. Or choose an independent mom-and-pop hotel with a cozy feel. With indoor attractions, shops and restaurants ready to cater to your every whim, spending the holidays in the Dells really does seem like the perfect tradition!
