We can’t tell this story enough: The first visitors to Wisconsin Dells more than 150 years ago came for rowboat tours of the meandering Wisconsin River with its majestic sandstone bluffs. It was a sight to behold then and it’s still a sight to behold today. Try for a fall getaway this year and get ready to breathe in the sights. Start with a Duck or boat tour of the river.
From there, the outdoor enthusiasts in the group can peel off in any handful of directions. They can hike Devil’s Lake State Park, kayak the river or nearby Mirror Lake, go zip lining to their heart’s content, capture nature photos from the vantage point of the downtown Scenic River Walk, or gallop on horseback through forest coloramas. If only we could make fall last a little longer!
