We don’t care who came up with these, because, frankly, we’re all about summer culinary treats, so let’s dig in to National Hot Dog Month choices first, followed by National Ice Cream Month contenders after that.
In Wisconsin Dells you’ll find Hot Dog Avenue, which really should be a mandatory stop this month. It’s located right across from Noah’s Ark Waterpark. Visitors from the south and visitors from the north stop here for the Chicago Dog and the Green Bay Dog. You can guess who gets what. There are eight varieties of Vienna hot dogs in all. There’s also Mary’s Place, which touts its Chicago-style taste and its outstanding hot dogs. New restaurant, B-LUX Grill and Bar, features a section on the menu aptly called The Dogs. Try The ‘Que Dog with BBQ pulled pork, slaw and chopped pickle relish.
Moving on to ice cream, this is where the calories really start to pile up. There’s CheeseCake Heaven Deli Restaurant, Goody Goody Gum Drop, and Kalahari Resort’s Sweet Hut, plus national brands like Cold Stone Creamery, Culver’s of Lake Delton, Culver’s of Wisconsin Dells, McDonald’s - Dells III, McDonald’s - Fort Dells, McDonald’s - Lake Delton and Lake Delton Dairy Queen.
Relish this month!
