They’ll be dancing in the streets on Saturday, September 30th. That’s the date of the second annual Kilbourn City Live Music & Arts Festival, staged at the corner of Broadway and La Crosse Street in downtown Dells. As for what’s new this year, let’s start with the name, as that’s a tipoff. Last year it was Kilbourn City Live. Simple, right? All about live music.
This year, the name got a little longer, with “Music & Arts Festival” added on. The popularity of the inaugural event in 2016, which drew 4,500 people, veritably begged for expansion, so this year the music starts at noon and runs until 10 p.m. The evening schedule has Cracker opening for headliner Smash Mouth, both 1990s chart toppers, with up and coming regional bands filling the afternoon time slots. Now layer in family-friendly activities like face painting and a bubble stations plus artisan wares for sale, with those running run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and you have the “arts” part of the festival. Admission to this block party-style event? How does free sound! No tickets required and it’s fun for the whole family.
