If you haven’t caught on already, we’re big on water in Wisconsin Dells. And that goes beyond the world-famous waterparks. Did You Know: One river and two lakes add up to lots of ways to experience water recreation.
Tube the Wisconsin River: River’s Edge Bait Shop & Boat Rentals calls the Wisconsin River the “original lazy river” and offers a tubing experience that lives up to that description. The float takes anywhere from two to four hours, or you can plan a full day to enjoy the many beaches and sandbars along the way. They also offer canoe and kayak trips.
Cast a Line: Pike, walleye, bass, panfish. Are you already itching to get out on the water just reading that list? Then try your luck on the Wisconsin River, with boat launches on both the Upper and Lower Dells of the river. There’s also Lake Delton, 254 acres with a maximum depth of 16 feet, with boat rentals available from Dells Watersports: Full Service Marina & Boat Rentals. The area has a handful of bait shops where you can purchase fishing licenses too, like B&H Trout Fishing & Bait Shop and Holiday Shores Watersports Center. If you’re looking for a new fishing experience, try Redbeard Bowfishing.
Paddle on a Quiet Lake: Enjoy a quiet day on one of the best paddling lakes in Wisconsin. All of Mirror Lake is “slow no wake” so no need to worry about waves from faster boats or personal watercraft knocking you off your stand up paddleboard. Rent boards, kayaks, double kayaks, and canoes at Mirror Lake State Park: Boat & Kayak Rental with proceeds benefitting Mirror Lake State Park.
Go Classic with Water Skiing: Holiday Shores Watersports offers water skiing and wakeboarding lessons on the Wisconsin River. Their guided WaveRunner tours of the Upper Dells of the river are as picturesque as they are fun. Rent a ski boat from Dells Watersports for a day of pure exhilaration on Lake Delton, or sit back on a chartered pontoon ride if that’s more your speed.
