Animals are an attraction unto themselves in Wisconsin Dells. Consider Wisconsin Deer Park, for example, in business for more than 50 years, 40 acres of land, and a variety of deer including White Tail, European Fallow, and the Dainty Japanese Silka. Pet and feed these tame deer, and take plenty of photos too.
At the International Crane Foundation, you’ll be in awe of this open air sanctuary that’s home to all 15 species of cranes. In fact, it’s the only place in the world where you can see all 15.
Country Bumpkin Farm Market & Lil’ Bumpkin Play Village is part farm market and part play village, with a petting zoo that includes alpaca, llama, goats, sheep and donkeys.
Circus World’s summer 2016 performance schedule includes “Tiger Adventures” featuring a magnificent family of captive-bred Bengal-Siberian Tigers. The show educates visitors on the preservation of the tiger species, plus it’s plenty entertaining too.
There are lots of options for horseback riding and horse-drawn wagon rides. Woodside Ranch is at the top of the leader board in this category, with more than 100 head, from ponies to Percherons. At Lost Canyon Tours, the guides must talk the horses through the tight squeeze of the narrowest passages in the gorge.
Perhaps the greatest menagerie of all is at Timbavati Wildlife Park. Here you’ll find felines to marsupials, giraffe to zebra, and penguin to monkey. You’ll even get a glimpse of the American Badger, very appropriate for The Badger State that is Wisconsin. Reserve a behind-the-scenes tour for your chance to interact with the animals.
