Dining Out at Old Favorites
In Wisconsin Dells, a culinary tour is just not complete without stops at some of the area’s classic restaurants. For breakfast, Mr. Pancake is a must. So is Howie’s Restaurant, home of Howie’s Restaurant. At lunchtime, Mitzi's American Grill is a hopping spot, as is High Rock Café. Then, for dinner, Ishnala Supper Club is a definite don’t-miss. Located deep in the woods and perched high above incredibly picturesque Mirror Lake, the land was once used by the Winnebago Indians as a ceremonial ground. In the early 1800s, a log cabin trading post was erected there. The current restaurant structure amazingly still has the original stone fireplace, log walls and staircase from that trading post. They’re open Memorial Day through Labor Day, and don’t accept reservations. Quirky, yes, but somehow it fits this supper club.
