Items welcomed: Food donations and personal care items.

An advance notice is requested if you have the potential of having perishable food that requires them to use coolers. Non perishable foods are always helpful if the organization is doing a food drive. Unopened shampoo, conditioner and soap products are accepted too.

Community Action Council also assists the River Haven Homeless Shelter in Portage, WI.

Delivery: Their office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and they usually have one staff member available to drive their truck and pick up food. They have coolers they can bring if food is perishable. An advance notice is appreciated.
 



Family Assistance

Items welcomed: Gently used or new children’s winter coats, socks, boots, shoes and books. Canned goods that can be used for emergency meals like soups and stews. Financial donations.

They assist with clothing needs, heating and rent assistance for low-income families, as well as emergency food when Community Action Council is closed.

Delivery: Organization has a truck, please call them to arrange a pick-up of items. Items may also be dropped off Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Items welcomed: Canned dog food, dryer sheets, cat litter, dish soap, meat-based baby food, durable dog toys such as Kong products, natural bones for dogs (no rawhides please) and scrub sponges.

Delivery: Pick up/drop off options at CCHS during business hours. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Volunteer Opportunities are available. Groups need to contact CCHS to see what large projects are available, if any.

Items Welcomed: Financial contributions, gift cards to Kwik Trip, Walmart, Walgreens, and Kohl’s, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, garbage bags, dishwasher soap, Ziploc bags, paper towels, cleaning supplies, Band-Aids, disposable razors, nail clippers, tampons, facial tissue, diapers and baby wipes, baby bottles and Sippy cups, baby thermometers, hangers, journals, copy paper, umbrellas, food items, and full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and body wash. Please no travel-size containers. Used cellphones, iPods, and iPads are accepted. The following items are welcome if new: pillows, twin-sized sheets, bathrobes, socks, bras, underwear, sweatpants and sweatshirts.

Delivery: Delivery of supplies to Hope House is preferred. If not possible, please call 608-356-9123 to see if pick-up can be arranged.

Volunteer Opportunities: Please contact Hope House if interested in a one-time volunteer project. Examples of projects include, but are not limited to: yardwork, washing windows, sanitizing toys, assembling shelter welcome bags and packets for kids and adults, a shelter group activity like baking and decorating cookies, and creating awareness buttons, ribbons, and displays.

Partner with Sauk County Humane Society for a puppy cuddle. Please note: Puppy cuddle depends on availability of animals. Please contact SCHS ahead of time to discuss all the details. A few ideas in addition to puppy cuddle – dog walking, dog treat making/decorating, etc. The proceeds or donation drive would benefit Sauk County Humane Society.
