Our tall timber lodge features 36 suites w/handcrafted log furnishings and mini-kitchens. Constructed of Canadian cedar timber, it is reminiscent of the charm & grandeur of a national park lodge. Kids love our bunkhouse suites with their own kiddie log cabin inside. Many other room types including log cabins nestled under towering pines. Ideal for family reunions. Call or see our web site for package deals.
Classic Experience

It started out as an eight-room tourist hotel at the bend in the road on Hwy. 13. Visitors were apt to arrive by train, greeted by a staff member who would ferry them to the resort in a Chrysler "woodie" station wagon. It wasn't unusual for guests to stay a week or two.  Old times tell of Al Capone and Charlie Chaplin vacationing here.  On Medowbrook's 50th anniversary, the Kalcik family purchased it and undertook a full renovation, but still keeping the original lodge.  This is a favorite for family reunions, with its northwoods charm, indoor and outdoor pools and eco-friendly philosophy.

Water Activities:

Indoor Activities:

The Mount Gushmore Dam
Watch our busy beavers constructing a dam at the summit of "Mount Gushmore." But, beware when the dam breaks, there's gushes of water fun that spills into beaver valley.

Beaver Valley Sawmill
A water activity featuring "The Rusty Ripsaw" toddler slide, "Crooked Cavern Crawlthrough" and interactivity hoses and spray features.

Baby Bears Bubbling Brook
A play, slide and spray feature just for the little ones.

Sawdust Springs Area
Where adults can rest while bubbling jets relax you as the kids play.

Outdoor Activities:

Hollow Tree Swimmin' Hole
A watery outdoor activity pool with 2 "Slippery Hickory" tree slides bursting water from its branches, a "Flower Shower" and bubbling geysers.

Sparkling Pool
A very large 3' - 4 1/2' deep outdoor swimming pool perfect to stretch out in or swim laps.

2013-04-14We recently stayed at Meadowbrook with my two young grandchildren. They loved the pool with the bubblers and bears!! Service was great. Rooms were large and immaculate. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
2013-03-13I loved, loved my stay at Meadowbrook Resort last year. It was friendly, safe and clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful with directions. Will definitely make plans to stay there again.
2011-06-30We recently stayed at the Meadowbrook Resort and loved it! The resort was very clean, beautifully decorated, family-friendly and quiet. From the moment we pulled up in front of the resort, we knew it was right for us. We loved the activities they had in the evening for families--the bonfires and kids movies in the lobby. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the pools. We give Meadowbrook a thumbs up!! We will definitely go back!

2010-04-07I LOVE THIS PLACE! We stayed here 2 years ago. It was the best experience I have had at a hotel in the Dells. I don't enjoy the big loud water resorts. This place is so quite and relaxing. I accually took about 20 pictures of our room! It was so beautiful. The grounds are great for walks or just sitting taking in nature. It is extremely kid friendly, from the nightly kid's movies and fire rings for cooking s'mores, to the indoor pool "just in case" it rains. With the playground and 2 outdoor pools. I even found myself sitting in there lobby just for some quite alone time. I am going back this year and am doing the package option. Very impressive!
2009-07-23We had a lot of fun, walking late at night and also, rest because the kids were having fun in the pool

Wisconsin Dells Rituals

wisconsin-dells-tours-17Ride a DUCK

See the Dells in amusing style. The banter of the drivers is good clean comedy, and the scenery on land and water is a sight to behold, up close and personal.

wisconsin-dells-fudge-17Eat fudge

Let Dells homemade fudge melt in your mouth. Buy a caramel apple, dipped multiple times for good measure, for midnight snacking.

tommy-bartlett-show-wisconsin-dellsSee the Tommy Bartlett Show

Honestly, the Tommy Bartlett Show is synonymous with Wisconsin Dells and is one of the most fun Wisconsin Dells attractions. Remember, don't try all those tricks at home. Leave it to the professionals.

wisconsin-dells-attractions-17Take up mini-golfing and go-karting in the Dells

In addition to being the "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®", the Dells is also considered the country's mini-golf and go-kart capital.

Jump in the water

Could be at one of the many Wisconsin Dells water parks, a lake, a motel or a campground. Just make certain to get wet before you leave.

Present Day Personalities: All In The Family

meadowbrook-resort-wisconsin-dellsScott Kalcik and Family

When you think of classic Wisconsin Dells resorts, Meadowbrook Resort has got to be at the top of the list. This tall timber lodge has been run by the Kalcik family, originally from Chicago, for the last 35 years. In fact, Scott Kalcik recounts, "I was just six years old when my parents purchased Meadowbrook and they put me right to work." He said that instilled in him the kind of work ethic Wisconsin Dells business owners are known for. How fitting that this Wisconsin Dells resort, which has grown from the original lodge to now include rows of neatly maintained cabins and indoor and outdoor water activities, hosts more than 150 family reunions each year.

del-bar-wisconsin-dells-22Jane and Jeff Wimmer

With 25 years under their belt as owners of the Dells Del-Bar restaurant, Jane and Jeff Wimmer could write the manual on the finer points of running a classic Wisconsin supper club. Jane explains that, for a supper club experience to be authentic, it should have a leisurely feel to it, with guests starting at the bar for a before-dinner cocktail, then being escorted to their table to enjoy a multiple course meal. "Years ago, after working hard all week, people dressed up and spent the entire evening with us." Remarkably, even with today's travelers being so time-crunched, Del-Bar guests still make it a point to spend the entire evening at the Wisconsin Dells restaurant.

wisconsin-dells-shopping-downtownArnie and Ben Borcher

Ben Borcher is a fourth-generation retailer in the Dells. His great grandparents came from Germany and settled in what was then known as Kilbourn City, now known as Wisconsin Dells. Aside from running some of the Dells' most popular retail outlets downtown, Ben and father Arnie share two other distinctions: Both are former volunteer firemen and both served as mayor of Wisconsin Dells. Today, Ben handles the day-to-day operations for Bailey's Landing and the Winnebago Gift Shop, two establishments known for their selection of fashionable moccasins and turquoise jewelry, and the upscale apparel store Alpha Beta Karma. But father Arnie is always close by for a word of advice or a bit of reminiscence about the early days of tourism in downtown Dells. One other note, Ben's sister Jane Heller is also a local business person running two sweet shops – Swiss Maid Fudge and Wisconsin Dairyland Fudge.

Waterpark Essentials: Must-Haves To Make The Most Of Your Day In The Dells

Waterpark FAQs: A Refresher

We want your waterpark experience in “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®” to be a great one, so we thought it might be helpful to put together a refresher on Waterpark Essentials. Here’s a list of what to bring, what to leave home and how to make the most of your day at the waterparks in Wisconsin Dells.

Remember to Bring

  • A swimsuit or two
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Sunglasses – bonus if they’re polarized to cut down on glare from the water
  • Cell phone to stay in touch and waterproof bag for safe stowing
  • Footwear – flip flops or water shoes are both good choices to protect your feet as you walk from one waterslide to the next to the next
  • Biggest, thirstiest beach towel you have
  • Swimsuit cover-up for the stroll back to your room or the car
  • Swim goggles - great for the wave pools
  • Quarters for storage lockers
  • Waterproof camera
  • Don’t Ignore This One
  • Two sets of car keys – keep them in separate places in case you lose one
  • Leave at Home
  • Jewelry – you don’t want to lose it and you can’t wear it on extreme waterslides anyway

Important Safety Rules

  • Follow the directions of the lifeguards.
  • Read and obey all the precaution signs posted at the rides, slides and pools.
  • Know your limits, especially if you don’t know how to swim. Ask for a life jacket as you enter the park.  Children under a certain age may be required to wear a life jacket.
  • Keep an eye out for little ones, always. (Speaking of little ones, swim diapers required.)
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Walk, don’t run.
  • Arrange a meeting time and place (be specific – next to the wave pool won’t cut it) to occasionally check in with the rest of your group.

Now have fun!

Spring Break In The Dells Is An Event Unto Itself

Automotion Wisconsin DellsOfficially, the Dells hosts one spring event and it's called Automotion. It's a great little car show that's turned into a great big car show. Unofficially, they host a second spring event, and it's called spring break. Who would have thought even five years ago that Wisconsin Dells would be a hot spring break destination? Mind you, we're not talking exclusively college students. We're talking families, and lots of them.

Indoor Water Parks Wisconsin DellsIt started innocently enough, according to Romy Snyder, who heads up the local Visitor Bureau. Families with school-age children, from grade-schoolers to teenagers, were looking for a place to chill out during the school break without getting on a plane or a cruise ship. The indoor Wisconsin Dells water park resorts were just the ticket. "It was a 'perfect storm' scenario -- close by, good value, enough variety to satisfy the entire family and the world's best water parks. And when it caught on, this place was jumping," said Snyder.

So, if you're looking for a cure for cabin fever that's kid-friendly and parent-approved, the Dells may be the hot spot you've been looking for. A word of advice -- make your reservations early. That way you won't disappoint the kids.
