See what our visitors are saying about Ishnala Supper Club

Just minutes from the Wisconsin Dells and located in the middle of beautiful Mirror Lake State Park, a long winding road takes you through hundreds of acres of meadow and forest to the Ishnala Restaurant on the shore of tranquil Mirror Lake. Then enjoy a breathtaking view while you relax in our main dining room where giant Norway pines grow right through the roof. At Ishnala, fine dining joins with nature to create a truly memorable dining experience.

Read more about what makes Ishnala Supper Club a Classic.

This is a Classic Wisconsin Dells Experience:
Ishnala means “by itself alone” in the language of the Winnebago Indians. Located deep in the woods and perched high above picturesque Mirror Lake, the land was once used by the Winnebago Indians as a ceremonial ground. In the early 1800s, a log cabin trading post was erected there. The current restaurant structure amazingly still has the original stone fireplace, log walls and staircase from that trading post. With Frank Sinatra music lilting in the background, and lobster and New York Strip served all around, it’s a slice of perfection. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

"My husband and I celebrated our honeynoon in Wisconsin Dells and we had our 1st very special dinner at Ishnala. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. I will never forget it. We just celebrated our 8th year anniversary last week. We will be going back to Wisconsin Dells in a few weeks and plan to go back to Ishnala for dinner."

"We were married in Iowa on July 25, 1966 and spent our honeymoon in the Dells. Tonight we had dinner at one of our favorite restuarants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and tried to remember where we ate dinner 2 or 3 times while at the Dells. I just went on line and found you. It brings back fond memories."

"Every year as a kid, our only vacation was two nts. in the Dells! The one item we splurged on each year was dinner at Ishnala. The restaurant means a great deal to me. Some of the best memories of my childhood. I remember how beautiful (and a little erie to a youngster) it was to drive down the secluded road by the Teepees. I would always pretend that we were entering a private Indian tribal ground!! Then to walk to the restaurant, with sidewalks lit with fire was sooo cool. We always stopped to read the enscription by the man-made canoe (though we knew it by heart). I remember enjoying the time as my parents sat at the bar....walking around the property, skipping rocks in Mirror Lake, and finding a hidden trail. I have been back many times as an adult. But, I'm looking forward to coming up this summer and bringing my two children. I'll make sure to warn them about the Indians hiding somewhere in the trees!"

"Skip's parents ran Ishnala for the Hoffman's in the late 50's & early 60's. Les Krueger was Bar Manager and Marna "Butch" Krueger was Dining Room Manager and Hostess. Skip spent many hours at Ishnala as a young person on the grounds and fishing in front of the restaurant. On Char's 16th birthday, Skip's parents took Char there to celebrate. A few years later, Skip proposed to Char at Ishnala. We dine there several times each year and always for our anniversary dinner for the past 40 years. Thank you for keeping Ishnala the same over the years."

"Back in September of 1985 my girlfriend and I and two friends were getting ready to have dinner after a plate of appetizers when my girlfriend, now my wife of 23 years, said she didn't feel to well. My first thought was maybe she was getting ill on the pickled herring!! About a minute later she said she felt dizzy and the next thing I know she passes out for about 15 seconds and lands on her hot baked potatoe on the table!! She woke up dazed and confused and asked what just happened. This happened right after our waiter just brought out our dinners. We decided that we should take her to the hospital right away!! We ended up at the Baraboo hospital and after several blood tests and checks the doctor really could not give us a concrete answer as to her passing out. He did take me aside and said that something like this happens on occasion when you're pregnant!!! What??!!@! Well, when we got back back to Chicago we went to her doctor and it was true, she was pregnant!! In December of 1985 we got married and in May of 1986 we had a little named Jennifer and two years later another daughter named Lisa! I'll never forget that evening at Ishnala and either will my wife. We've been back many times since and really love your place! Two things to finish my story. The pickled herring is not blame and we never got to eat our dinner that night!! Everything was closed by the time we got out of the hospital that night!! Thanks for a great memory at Ishnala! See ya soon!!"
