We did a little research this past year to make sure our eyes weren’t deceiving us -- that people were actually vacationing here without kids. And - gasp! - it was true! Nearly one-quarter of our Dells visitors are grown-ups traveling without children. We love it!
Something else the research turned up is that our grown-up travelers like the Wisconsin Dells water parks. They’re zooming around testing all the extreme rides and new whiz-bang plunge slides and hanging out in the luxury cabanas that so many of our waterpark resorts now offer. And by luxury we mean flat-screen TVs, wi-fi, bar, air conditioning and really comfy seating. Good for them!
What else do they like to do? The list is long so hold on. They spa to their heart’s content - there are day spas and resort spas to choose from. They golf at one or all six of the Dells area championship courses. They dine at our classic supper clubs, enjoying a Wisconsin favorite libation - the old fashioned - before sitting down to a leisurely meal that begins with a relish tray and proceeds to great steaks, homemade rolls, satisfying sides and decadent desserts. They tour wineries and partake of tastings or, if wine isn’t their cup of tea, they sample local microbrews. Wisconsin artisan cheeses happen to pair well with both. They shop the boutique stores for baubles, resort wear and home décor items. They try their luck at Ho-Chunk Casino. They gather for performances of their favorite national artists and comedians. They stay in lakeside Wisconsin Dells resorts, condominiums and romantic B&Bs. And, as time permits, they might even do some hiking, parasailing and canoeing.
So, here’s our invitation to young couples, groups of friends, empty-nesters and every other form of girls’ and guys’ getaway groups - give the Dells a try.
