A Round-Up on the Best Ways to Round Up 3 Generations

November 12, 2015

Rounding up 3 Generations

  1. Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort Rent a party room or hospitality room. It’s a great place to gather, and it can be a lifesaver if the weather turns bad and you need room to spread out. Bonus tip: Ask if you can bring in your own food and beverages. At Baker’s, the answer is “yes.”
  2. Tommy Bartlett Show Just because you’re vacationing as a group doesn’t mean everyone in the group wants to experience all the same things at the same time. That’s where the Passport To Savings - Attraction Ticket Program comes in. It offers a discount with multiple attraction ticket purchases plus families have the flexibility of using the tickets whenever they want, instead of always booking as a group. In other words, you get to pace your togetherness.
  3. Monk’s Bar & Grill Choose places that offer prime material for future storytelling. At Monk’s, grandparents, parents and grandkids all get to enjoy the Monkburgers which typically come with a side order of fond tales of their parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents eating at Monk’s and vacationing in the Dells. Even staff loves to get in on the storytelling.
  4. Dells Boat Tours®/Original Wisconsin Ducks® The Original Wisconsin Ducks® have a leg up on many attractions in that they are indeed timeless - many grandparents have either served in the military or have ridden the Ducks in years past and want to share that experience with the younger generations. To capture your entire group in a photo everyone will treasure, consider hiring a professional photographer. Those picture-perfect moments can be fleeting and shouldn’t be left to the chance of someone with a smartphone.
  5. Wilderness Resort Book a big cabin or mega condo through group sales to maximize togetherness time. Ask the kids to put on skits that memorialize past vacations. Before heading home, reserve the same accommodations for the following year and make sure everyone in the groups gets the dates on their calendar so there are zero no-shows.
  6. Kalahari Resorts & Conventions Use Grandparents Day as good timing to get the generations together. Ask about family packages that include goodies like admissions to water parks and amusement parks, dining, and other discounts to make sure everyone in the group has ear-to-ear smiles from start-to-finish.
  7. Paul Bunyan’s Northwoods Cook Shanty Dining out in a big group goes most smoothly when everyone carpools and arrives at the same time. Since there’s a good chance you’ll be spread out over several tables, come up with a code name that everyone will use once seated (at Paul Bunyan’s you could try Jack or Jill, as in lumberjack or lumberjill) so the wait staff knows who’s with who when ordering. Then sit back and enjoy the food and conversation.
  8. Moosejaw Pizza & Dells Brewing Co. Recreate the same photo each year so you can see the changes in your family. At Moosejaw that naturally involves wearing moose antler hats.
  9. Rick Wilcox Magic Theater Get in on the act, so to speak. Purchase tickets in advance and ask for the entire group to be seated near the front of the theater to increase the likelihood of family members being called on to serve as “willing participants” in some of the magic acts. It’s a chance to cheer on a sibling or parent you’d like to see disappear for a while!
