Camping, Glamping and RVing - Learn the Art of Each

Family camping at Fox Hill campgroun

Outdoorsy sorts and open road hopefuls, this story is for you. It’s a little tutorial on how to spend the night in Wisconsin Dells that gets you off the beaten path.

There are several categories of camping and we’re here to break it down for you, Wisconsin Dells-style.

Camping

A camping trip that puts you off the grid, out in nature and under the stars? Nothing else like it. Baraboo Hills Campground has secluded tent and pop-up sites, perfect for star gazing. Set up the tent in the tranquil setting of Dell Boo Family Campground or Dells Timberland Camping Resort and be quick to break out the s’mores. Spread out at Red Oak Campground with its nicely isolated sites. Pick a primitive site at Summer Breeze Resort for a real-deal camping experience. Or go with a tent site at Mt. Olympus Camp Resort.

Glamping

Instead of pitching a tent, step into a fully furnished camp cabin at KOA Wisconsin Dells, a pretty camping cottage at Sherwood Forest Campground & RV Park, a cabin condo at River Bay Premier Camping Resort on the Wisconsin River, a log cabin at Al’s Fox Hill RV Park & Campground, or a deluxe cabin at Bass Lake Campground. Then there’s the Glamper Yurt at Yogi Bear Camp-Resort & Water Playground, their most luxurious offering, although their bungalows, chalets and lodges are awfully nice too. For something out of the ordinary, stay in a treehouse-style cabin at Natura Treescape Resort.

RVing

Have you noticed more Airstreams rolling down the freeway again? With all generations behind the wheel, the RV is back in vogue in a big way. Pull your big rig in at Ho-Chunk Gaming RV Park and take the shuttle to the casino. Arrowhead Resort Campground specializes in RV sites plus they have multiple pools, tennis courts, sand volleyball, horseshoes and shuffleboard, you know, all the classics. While Yukon Trails Camping bills itself as a “rustic RV resort,” they will deliver a Friday fish fry right to your site. Bonanza Camping Resort has 60 full hookup sites and you’re within walking distance of some of the Dells’ top attractions.
