The weather this summer has been hot, hot, hot. Are you looking for ways to keep your cool during your Wisconsin Dells vacation? While excessive heat warnings seem to be the norm, there are ways to keep active during your family vacation without overheating. Our waterparks are famous, of course, but we have a few more ideas for keeping busy on the hottest days of the year in the Dells.
Alright, we almost cheated on this one, since we are “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®” But it’s worth repeating: we’ve got over 200 waterslides and 16 million gallons of water pumping through the area. Between lazy rivers, wave pools, racer slides, looping slides and good old fashioned pools, it’s easy to beat the heat at one of the area’s waterparks or resorts.
- Indoor Theme Parks
Kalahari Indoor Theme Park offers rock climbing, a six-story Ferris wheel, laser tag, bowling, go- karts and even indoor mini-golf. Across the street, Knuckleheads Trampoline Park • Rides • Bowling boats thirteen fun attractions under one roof, including their trampoline park, indoor go-karts and bowling.
Looking for a challenge? Check out Wizard Quest in downtown Wisconsin Dells. It’s an interactive labyrinth of magic where you will be on a quest to free four wizards. Magiquest/ShowQuest at Great Wolf Lodge caters to the kids as Great Wolf Lodge is turned into a playground where you use a magic wand interact with characters.
- Catch a Show
Rick Wilcox Magic Theater is consistently the top-rated attraction on TripAdvisor and there’s a reason why. Master illusionist Rick Wilcox and his wife Suzan have entertained thousands with their Vegas-quality show. The show is updated every year, and Rick is known to spend years perfecting each new routine. Palace Theater in the Dells is a great place to stay cool with a variety of shows in a dinner theater setting. New for 2016, Palace Theater is offering “Theater for Young Audiences,” shorter, budget-friendly productions designed to introduce kids to the magic of live theater.
- A Cool Canyon
Lost Canyon Tours might surprise you as an option to be outside yet stay cool. You’ll travel through a mile of cliff-walled gorges on a horse-drawn carriage, where the temperature can feel quite cooler than the parking lot. In some of the deeper parts of the canyon, the rocks and sandstone walls have not felt the sun in more than 50,000 years!
- Spa Day
Take a moment for yourself and schedule a massage or facial at one of the area’s ten spas. The soaring temperature won’t be hard to handle when you’re so relaxed.
We hope these suggestions help you stay cool during your next Wisconsin Dells vacation. Happy travels!
