We’re starting to reveal the “new news” for 2016 and naturally we like to start with waterpark news. Wilderness Resort has just debuted its “slideboard” ride. The easiest way to describe this ride is a sit-down surfboard with a video game component. The handles on the surfboard are actually controllers. As you slide past a series of flashing color lights you press the corresponding button to rack up points. Leader boards at the bottom turn it into a competition.
Here’s one for the current season – Christmas Mountain Village™ Ski, Snowboard & Tube has just introduced Cyber Tubing, the first snow tubing attraction of its kind in the country. After a lift to the top, riders zoom through 5,000 feet of tubing lanes to the best of high energy music and with the added pop of color-changing LED lights, lasers, black lights and glow stickers. One rider per tube, but the tubes can be linked together for the ride down.
On to food news, with a handful of new restaurants to tempt you. There’s Kickers Restaurant, with a classic burgers and pizza menu. It’s an ideal spot for sports teams to fuel up. Belgiis Waffle Bar offers soft and chewy dough-based waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hugely popular MACS - Macaroni and Cheese Shop has added a second location, this one near Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. The menu offers a dozen different takes on this comfort food, a nice kids’ menu, and cheesy sandwich melts too. Add in popular restaurants like Panera Bread and Qdoba Mexican Eats and your food fix is complete.
Looking for a new place to stay? SpringHill Suites by Marriott Wisconsin Dells opens this month. All 95 rooms are suites and there’s an indoor pool and workout room too. Stay tuned for more “new news” at wisdells.com.
