Keep Your Tweens and Teens Happy
Let’s be honest, keeping tweens and teens happily entertained might be one of the most difficult and harrowing parental jobs on the planet. That is until you remember Wisconsin Dells. You know, “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®” Where indoor waterparks are the coolest thing on the planet and indoor amusement parks, well, amuse. Which explains why the community has unofficial honors as the “Spring Break Capital of the Midwest.”
Let’s start with the indoor waterparks, where water roller coasters, surf machines, funnel rides, dump buckets, and lazy rivers all hold massive appeal. There’s Chula Vista Resort, Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari Resorts Waterparks, Mt. Olympus Resort, and Wilderness Resort. Lodging at these resorts fills up as fast as a teenager can empty your fridge, so sage advice is to book early.
Indoor amusement parks in the Dells have only gotten bigger and better over the past 10 years during which time your kids grew from toddlers to tweens. Tom Foolerys Adventure Park at Kalahari has thrill rides, laser tag, a zip line, go-cart track, rock climbing wall, and sports simulator. Wild Fun Zone has bumper cars, a laser tag arena, and black light mini-golf. Knuckleheads Trampoline Park • Rides • Bowling is known for its trampoline park and its cosmic bowling. Wilderness Resort has three new climbing walls, room escapes, a VR experience, ropes course, laser maze, and go-kart course. Booby Trap Escape Rooms require players to put critical thinking to work to solve the mission. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, be sure to visit Wizard Quest to escape into a fantasy world of wizards and dragons or stop by Magiquest/Shadowquest at Great Wolf Lodge to explore an enchanted kingdom to solve puzzles, find hidden treasure and maybe even slay a dragon!
The kids will need to refuel, and tween/teen restaurant favorites include MACS – Macaroni and Cheese Shops, Hot Dog Avenue, Moosejaw Pizza & Dells Brewing Co, Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub of Wisconsin Dells, Uno Pizzeria & Grill, and Buffalo Phil’s Pizza & Grille.
