The excitement is building in Wisconsin Dells as we welcome the return of a cultural icon on Saturday, August 22nd. “Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial Reawakened,” presented by Friends of H.H. Bennett Studio and Little Eagle Arts Foundation, will kick off at 3:00pm at the Crystal Grand Music Theatre.
For nearly 80 years, from 1919 to 1997, members of the local Ho-Chunk Nation performed ceremonial dances and skits at Stand Rock, along the shores of the Wisconsin River. The Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial became legendary and was, in fact, one of the most popular attractions in the area for many years.
“Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial Reawakened” is an intertribal gathering based on those nightly performances. The event celebrates the Ho-Chunk People, the 150th Anniversary of the H.H. Bennett Studio and their combined efforts for promoting cultural tourism in Wisconsin.
All proceeds will help support the Cultural Arts programs of Little Eagle Arts Foundation and Friends of H.H. Bennett Studio.
A Native Arts Marketplace will also be open from 11:00am – 5:30pm outside of the Theater. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased by calling 800-696-7999, visiting crystalgrand.com or purchasing at the door.
