Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum is paying tribute to the ancient art of sword swallowing by holding free sword swallowing performances on World Sword Swallower's Day, Saturday, February 27. Darrel Hunsley will show off his skills as one of just a few people in the world who can swallow swords. And yes, the swords are real and made of solid steal. Interesting side note: The day also raises awareness of the contributions sword swallowers have made to the fields of medicine and science and raises money for esophageal cancer research.
Palace Theater in the Dells is ramping up their spring season with a pair of productions – Girls Night: The Musical (February 26-28) and Always…Patsy Cline (March 16-April 17). In addition, new for 2016, the theater is offering “Theater for Young Audiences.” These 60-minute performances of classic tales are specially priced for families and children. Cinderella kicks off the program on March 17 and runs through April 9.
Join Wollersheim Winery & Distillery at their annual Open House on March 5, 10am – 4pm. Self-guided tours will be available, covering the historic underground aging cellars and the newly-opened distillery. Winemaker Philippe Coquard will be presenting and there will be demonstrations on grapevine pruning and cooking with wine. The day also includes wine and spirits tastings, of course.
