Warm Up with Wine!

Woman tasting wine at Fawn Creek Winery.

Did you know most of the wineries around Wisconsin Dells are open year-round? Warm up this winter by sampling your way through the following wineries.

Balanced Rock Winery

Even in the winter the location of this winery is a stunning one. Picture unobstructed views of the rolling, snow covered hillside. Sample a variety of wines within their modern industrial design and spacious bar set perfectly for tasting. Balanced Rock Winery is open daily.

Throughout the winter they host fun events like charcuterie board and charcoal drawing classes. Check out their Facebook page for a list of all upcoming events.

Baraboo Bluff Winery

Situated high up on the northwest range of the Baraboo Bluffs, is the aptly named Baraboo Bluff Winery. Notable are their wines made from cold-hardy grapes grown on their scenic hillside vineyard. Cozy up inside and have a seat at one of their tasting bars and order yourself a dry or sweet flight.
Baraboo Bluff is open Thursday – Monday during the winter. Check their Facebook page for updates to open times.

Broken Bottle Winery

The sister winery of Baraboo Bluff is a perfect winter winery stop, with its two 28-foot tasting bars, spacious indoor seating, and rustic small-town aesthetic. They are open and offer tastings daily, with live music just about every weekend.
Keep up with their live music events on their Facebook page

Fawn Creek Winery

You’ll find yourself in quite the winter wonderland at Fawn Creek Winery nestled in a quiet neck of the woods in the forest of Dell Prairie. Their niche is in fruit-flavored grape wines. Be sure to try their winter seasonal specialty, “Black Bear-y,” a blackberry-flavored Merlot.

Just because their outdoor state is closed during the off season doesn’t mean the live music stops. Visit their Facebook page for a schedule of upcoming live performances.

Wollersheim Winery & Distillery

This historic vineyard is picturesque anytime of year. Wollersheim is situated on a hillside overlooking the Wisconsin River Valley, where wine-making roots were first planted in the 1840s. Try their Ice Wine, made from grapes that are left on the vine into December, harvested frozen. These grapes produce condensed juice full of highly concentrated aromatics and sugars.

Wollersheim Distillery makes a variety of family-crafted spirits, including brandies, bourbon, whiskey, gin, and absinthe. Make a note to try their Coquard Brandy, the first spirit created after the reawakening of their distilling tradition at the property in 2009.

In late January they host their Port Wine Celebration, which includes local music, food and Port wine tastings. Find out more about their upcoming event(s) on their Facebook page.
