Slow down. We insist. You survived the holidays, winter is setting in, and it’s your time to settle down with a fine glass of wine or whiskey, maybe both! We may not be a certified sommelier, but we feel very confident in recommending these vintages.
Fawn Creek Winery and Baraboo Bluff Winery are both open for tours and tastings all winter-long. Spread out at the three large tasting bars at Baraboo Bluff, with views to the snow-covered hills and valleys. Enjoy a complimentary tasting of three wines chosen by the winemakers and tied to the season. At Fawn Creek, the serene woodland surroundings and fresh scent of pine will put you in a wine-sipping state of mind. Be sure to try their Black “Bear-y," a blackberry-flavored seasonal Merlot that goes a long way in curing winter doldrums.
At Wollersheim Winery, situated on a hilltop above the Wisconsin River just a short drive from the Dells. They offer distilled spirits including their wildly popular brandies, gin, vermouth, and even absinthe. The property was first cultivated by European vintners more than 150 years ago. Be sure to enjoy a wine tour and tasting while you’re there too.
