Spring Break Craze

How Is It That Kids Are So Lucky These Days

College kids head to Florida. The younger set clamors for spring break in Wisconsin Dells. The community has become increasingly busy during spring break time, as parents and kids look for an escape from cabin fever that doesn’t require getting on a plane. With concierge services and kid-friendly activity programs, many of the waterpark resorts have been compared to cruise ships on land. Or check out our massive variety of vacation home rentals.

Attractions on Dry Land

School may be out for spring break, but the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory - Interactive Science Center will remind kids and parents of their favorite science teacher and all those mind-bending science experiments that actually turned out to be a blast (figuratively, not literally, mind you). There are 150 hands-on interactive exhibits, with lessons on static electricity, magnetic fields, lasers and optical illusions. You don’t get graded, so the pressure’s off. The assignment at another indoor attraction, Wizard Quest, is to navigate the full-size labyrinth and release the wizards trapped inside. Computer-savvy kids will have no problem spending hours at this. For a quirky history lesson, there’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, with its collection of oddities and antiquities. The biography of the namesake, explorer Robert Ripley displayed just inside the door is worth reading.

  • Tom Diehl, owner of the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory - Interactive Science Center
