The Unicorn of Spring Break Vacations

February 06, 2018

Let’s talk about ditching those winter doldrums with a spring break vacation for the family that’s a) close-by, b) a good value, and c) warm. Could it be that we’ve just described the unicorn of getaways?

Not sure who came up with this title, but we’ll take it: Wisconsin Dells, The Spring Break Capital of the Midwest. From March to April, the timeframe encompassing varied spring breaks for school districts around the Midwest, the Dells is vacation central. In fact, you’d think it was summer if not for the chilly temperatures outside. The indoor waterpark resorts get full credit for this one, turning a typically gray season into a rainbow of fun.

Whether you prefer a mid-sized waterpark resort like Alakai Hotel & Suites, Atlantis Family Waterpark Hotel or Meadowbrook Resort to perfectly suit your toddlers, or you have teens you need to wow and therefore choose one of the super-sized properties like the Wilderness Resort, Mt. Olympus All Inclusive Hotel Rome Rooms, Chula Vista Resort Waterparks, or Kalahari Resort Waterparks and Great Wolf Lodge, the results will be the same: Happy kids, happy parents.

When it’s time to dry off, head to an indoor amusement park for some mini golf, go carting or bounce-around activities. Check out Kalahari Indoor Theme Park, Knuckleheads Trampoline Park, Rides, Bowling, Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park and Wild Fun Zone.

Take in a show at the Rick Wilcox Magic Theater. Do a little souvenir shopping downtown. Leave the cooking to the more than 60 kid-friendly restaurants in the community.

Your kids will head home tired but happy and you’ll feel like “parent of the year.” O.K., maybe that’s why we’re called The Spring Capital of the Midwest!
