Brews and Wines Paired with Runs and Walks

Run, walk, or just stroll, but do get your feet moving at these three spring events in Wisconsin Dells that reward your step counts with tastes of artisan brews, barrel-aged beers, and tasty wines. 

Sneakers and Sips

There are ways to enjoy the waning days of winter and the early thaw of spring. How you ask? Just plan a friends’ vacation to Wisconsin Dells timed to one of these three grownup events. 

Thirsty Shamrock 5K and Pub Crawl

Luck will be on your side when you commit to some fun shenanigans in downtown Wisconsin Dells during the Thirsty Shamrock 5K and Pub Crawl on Saturday, March 16. The 5K kicks off at 10:30am, starting and finishing at the Elm Street Plaza at 350 Broadway. While a pot of gold is not one of the prizes at the end of the 5K, a guaranteed good time is, with green beer provided post-run (21+ for this treat) and green donuts all-around. Register online now and start training.

After you catch your breath and pose for photos with your running mates, then gear up for part two of the Thirsty Shamrock event with a downtown pub crawl (21+ for this too) from 1-5pm. Sample from a huge selection of artisan brews at participating bars. There are a limited number of tickets available for purchase. On the day of, you’ll pick up your tasting glass at Elm Street Plaza, 350 Broadway (9am – 3pm).

Spring Wine Walk

No whining about having nothing to do in the spring when Wisconsin Dells is hosting a Spring Wine Walk on Saturday, April 27, from 2-6pm. Watch as downtown Wisconsin Dells restaurants and shops transform into wine tasting destinations. Along with sipping reds and whites, you’ll be treated to yummy hors d’oeuvres too. 

Here’s how it works: A limited number of tickets go on sale Friday, March 1. Ticket holders will pick up their wristband at Elm Street Plaza, 350 Broadway, any time between 9am – 4pm on the day of the wine walk. Then all that’s left to do is sip and walk, sip and walk, well, you get the picture!

Dells Rare Barrel Affair

While the wine lovers head to the Spring Wine Walk, the beer drinkers among the group will have something to call their own too, namely the Dells Rare Barrel Affair, set for Saturday, April 13, from 1 – 5pm. Staged at the Swan Barn Door, this annual event features rare and barrel-aged beers alongside the classic Wisconsin beers we all know and love. Beer aficionado? This event is calling your name. Craft beer novice? This event is for you too. Light snacks are also included in the price of admission. Wondering if your favorite brewery will be participating? A limited number of tickets are available for purchase online. You’ll see there are advance and day of event ticket options for those who will be sampling as well as a reduced ticket price for those who will be serving as designated drivers.
