Fest with the Best
While your air conditioning may be cranked at the moment, it won’t be long before cool, crisp days return to Wisconsin Dells. In other words, fall festival season. Here are three events that are each a favorite in their own right.
As the story goes, this started out as a celebration by residents of another successful summer season. Today, it’s a celebration of fall that attracts visitors from far and wide. The Maxwell Street Days atmosphere, with sidewalk sales, antique flea market, and arts & crafts fair is a shopper’s paradise. All-day concessions and carnival rides draw in families, while the Saturday morning Wo-Zha-Wa Run, Wisconsin’s oldest long-distance race, brings in serious athletes to compete in the half-marathon. Capping off the three-day event is a 100-unit parade on Sunday afternoon.
Raise a glass to the state’s brewing heritage when you attend beer-centric events. On Friday, there’s the Dells Craft Beer Walk, during which beer devotees can sample from a tempting selection of artisan brews at participating bars in the downtown district. You’ll pick up your tasting glass at the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau, 701 Superior Street on the day of the event. That ticket will also get you food specials and additional tap specials.
Then it’s on to the main event, Saturday’s Dells on Tap microbrew tasting fest, with general admission from and VIP admission (for those 500 people lucky enough to snag a VIP ticket). Buy your ticket in advance for a price break, as prices go up day-of. Tasting mug included. Live entertainment adds to the festive mood.
Imagine 20+ shops and restaurants transformed into wine tasting rooms. That’s what happens during the Fall Wine Walk. Not only will wine-lovers have a chance to sample reds and whites, but they’ll also get to nibble on hors d’ oeuvres too as they make notes of their favorite vintages. Commemorative wine glass included to add to your at-home collection.
Extra Incentive: Loads of local businesses offer special deals, rates and overnight packages on fall festival weekends.
