A Very Good Time to Visit
The rush of the holidays is a memory. Now the reality of New Year’s resolutions sets in. If making time for the people most important in your life – and remember, “people” can include you too – was at the top of your list, let us help with some fun ideas to ensure you’re not among the majority who fall short on all those good intentions.
Let’s get right to me-time. And we can’t think of a better spot to focus on your well-being than Sundara Inn & Spa, a destination spa resort that’s just completed a 40,000 square foot expansion. This is the place for a “reset retreat” of your own making when you book spa treatments, take in a cooking demo, participate in yoga and guided meditation, swim outside in the heated infinity pool, nap in the Woodland Reflection Room and leave with a feeling of transformation, ready to face the real world.
You could also go the cozy cabin or cottage route with a stay at Cedar Lodge and Settlement or River’s Edge Resort.
Plan an afternoon of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Devil’s Lake State Park or Mirror Lake State Park, great for clearing the mind and energizing the body. Then treat yourself to some nibbles of artisan cheese from Market Square Cheese. The next morning, pop downtown Wisconsin Dells to Bella Goose Coffee for a great cup of cappuccino and head back to your cabin to finally finish that book you’ve had on your nightstand since last year.
Now if family time is your top priority for the new year, boy, do we have you covered. A waterpark getaway this time of year is not only a cure for cabin fever, but it’s also the cure for too-little together time.
Head to attractions where teamwork is called for, like escape rooms and wizard quest games. Be sure some classic attractions are on your list too, so you can show your kids the things you enjoyed when you were their age, like the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory – Interactive Science Center, Rick Wilcox Magic Theater, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.
Sit down together for a meal – a novel idea, right?! Monk’s Bar & Grill has great burgers, River Walk Pub serves a delish Friday fish fry, and Sarento’s Restaurant is pasta-heaven.
Leave with a together-time memento, namely an old-timey portrait from Old Abe’s Old Time Portraits. Hang it on the wall the minute you get back home as a reminder to make time for each other whenever you can.
