Skiing, Snowboarding and Snow Tubing in Wisconsin

Cascade Mountain Ski, Snowboard & Snow Tube caters to adventurous types with four terrain parks ranging from beginner to expert, and there’s a high-speed Mountain Top Express to ensure there’s no slowdown in the fun. Even if you don’t have any special athletic skills, snow tubers thrill to the experience of sliding down a 900-foot-long chute before riding back up on the “magic carpet” lift to do it all over again.

The qualified instructors at Cascade Mountain Ski, Snowboard & Snow Tube teach all levels of downhill skiing and snowboarding, from first timers to racing enthusiasts. Lessons are one hour long and can be reserved for up to five people. They also have a Cascade Kids lesson program that stresses safety, fun, and learning.

Ziplining

Yes, winter ziplining is a thing in Wisconsin Dells. Vertical Illusions has a snowshoe zip line experience and, for the more adventurous yet, they guide ice climbing trips where you scale frozen waterfalls. Bigfoot Zipline Tours takes you through a snowy forest of red pines and white oaks.

Winter Workouts

Consider this section an ode to the state parks in the area. At Devil’s Lake State Park, partake of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Enjoy Mirror Lake State Park for its 18 miles of combination skate- and classic-groomed cross-country ski trails. Rocky Arbor State Park is open all season-long for winter hiking and snowshoeing. Winter hiking and snowshoeing are also popular pursuits at Roche-A-Cri State Park.

More Fun Winter Activities in Wisconsin

When in Wisconsin Dells, try ice fishing on Lake Delton, where the catch could include crappie and other panfish. Patient fishing enthusiasts might snag a pike, walleye, or bass. At nearby Devil’s Lake State Park, you’ll want to target the trout while enjoying the breathtaking scenery that takes on a frosty luster in the winter.

Winter horseback riding is another option for outdoor enthusiasts. There’s year-round trail riding at both Red Ridge Ranch Riding Stable and Woodside Ranch Riding Stables. Red Ridge Ranch also has sleigh rides during the winter months.

Reverse Snow Globe

Playing indoors at the waterparks in Wisconsin Dells will give you a feeling of being in a reverse snow globe. Perfect example – the see-through dome over the giant wave pool at the Wilderness Resort. Bob on the waves, palm trees rimming the pool, as you watch big fluffy snowflakes land on the dome.

Other indoor activities that provide a nice warm-up include jumping around at Knuckleheads Trampoline Park Rides Bowling, and tackling the ropes course at Tom Foolerys Adventure Park.

For the grown-ups in the group, one of the fun things to do in the winter with friends is to spend an evening at Ho-Chunk Gaming. You’ll feel toasty warm, whether at the blackjack table or the bingo area, especially when those winnings start piling up faster than the snowflakes outside.
