Beer connoisseurs, listen up, because this event is for you. It’s the annual Dells Rare Barrel Affair, a springtime celebration of the art of brewing, and that art includes rare and barrel-aged beers. It’s set this April in Wisconsin Dells.
For novices, this is a splendid introduction to brewing techniques. For aficionados, well, you’re already on top of this tribute to bocks, stouts, ales and porters. There’s a good chance you’ll come across brews aged in everything from scotch whiskey barrels to chardonnay barrels. Fermented fruits show up in many of these artisan beers too – think cranberries, apples, and cherries. Classic Wisconsin beers round out the list.
To add to the atmosphere, there’s live music. To add to the foodie appeal, there’s a tidy menu of tempting pub classics.
If you don’t want to risk a sell-out, purchase your ticket online. Tickets at the door may or may not be an option.
P.S. Since you’ve read to the end of this story, there’s a good chance you’ll also want to get the annual Dells on Tap weekend on your vacation calendar. Sample seasonal microbrews from the best of the Midwest during the Friday Craft Beer Walk and Saturday’s Dells on Tap tasting. Put a ping reminder in your planner that tickets go on sale in August.
