Best Ways to See Fall Color

September 15, 2019

Visitors first came to Wisconsin Dells more than 150 years ago for the exquisite scenery best observed via boat tour. Fast-forward to Fall 2019 as we bring you five favorite options for seeing the scenery. Hint: Those iconic river tours still top the list.

Five Ways to Soak Up Fall Scenery

Soaking up fall scenery can be a relaxing pursuit, a cardio workout or a fun diversion. You choose what colorama experience suits you best from our list of five favorites for fall leaf-peeping.

  1. On the water: Honestly, no autumn getaway to Wisconsin Dells is complete without a Duck tour or boat tour of the Wisconsin River. With the sun casting a golden glow on the honey-hued bluffs and the forests seemingly brush-stroked with color, it’s a magical experience.
  2. Sky-high: If heights are your thing, then see the tree canopy from above with a zipline tour at Bigfoot Zipline Tours and BigFoot Ropes Course, Dells Zipline Adventures, Vertical Illusions- Zip line/Kayak/Rock Climbing Adventure Center, and Wilderness Canyon Zip Line Canopy Tour.
  3. Paddle away: There’s incredible kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding to be had at Mirror Lake State Park, with rentals courtesy of Mirror Lake State Park: Boat & Kayak Rental.
  4. Saddle up:  Canyon Creek Riding Stables, Red Ridge Ranch Riding Stable and Woodside Ranch Riding Stables offer horseback riding for all experience levels.
  5. By Rail: Take the family to Mid-Continent Railway Museum, where you’ll travel along the same rails which served the iron mines of the Baraboo Bluffs over a century ago! Mark your calendar for their, Harvest Limited, Pumpkin Special and Autumn Color Weekend all taking place in October! You’ll be able to experience all the autumn views that are awe-inspiring, Insta-worthy and memory-making.
