Al Fresco to the Rescue
There’s something about being outside that just makes music sound better and meals taste better. And so it goes with the summer entertainment season in Wisconsin Dells. Let’s launch right into the music line-up.
The Riverfront Terrace overlooking the Wisconsin River has the look and feel of an urban rooftop restaurant. Lights strung overhead, a food truck serving artisan-style pizza and salads, beer and wine service, night art markets, and Sunday farmers’ markets, and a full schedule of live music now through mid-October makes this a must-stop.
You can also catch free live music nearly every evening at the corner of Cedar and Broadway. Local favorite Swing Crew is on the schedule, along with Bahama Bob, the Prairie Thunder Cloggers and more.
Other downtown live music venues include The Keg Bar & Grill/The Patio, Mama’s Garage at Showboat Saloon, and the Sand Bar.
Alfresco dining is another way to make the most of wonderful summer weather. Try High Rock Café, Monk’s Bar & Grill downtown, Dockside Grill & Rum Bar, B-LUX Grill & Bar, Tug’s Kitchen, House of Embers, River Walk Pub, Ravina Bay Bar & Grill, Sarento’s, The VUE at River Inn, and Summer House Grill & Bar.
For cocktails and appetizers, the three-tiered outdoor seating on The Patio at Field’s at the Wilderness is sublime. Stop in on a Thursday night and you’ll be treated to live music too.
Newest to the al fresco line-up is The Grateful Shed Truckyard, already a fast favorite for street food and fun. While the food trucks are indoors, there are outdoor seating and lawn games. Wondering what’s on the menu? Try tacos, grilled cheese, and Asian eats, washed down with one of the craft beers on tap.
One more and it’s a classic – the Dells Boat Tours Sunset Dinner Cruise. Magnificent scenery, the music of Dan Soma, a shore landing at torchlit Witches Gulch, and a surf-and-turf meal make for the perfect end to a perfect day.
