Romantic Dinner Locations to Woo and Wow

Food can absolutely be the language of love when you do your research en route to choosing just the right restaurant to please the palate preferences of your significant other. Well, we’ve done the research for you, with suggestions for a Valentine’s Day dinner in Wisconsin Dells that you’ll remember for many Valentine’s Days to come. Book for Valentine’s weekend or save for another occasion. Every one of these restaurants features a menu known to be irresistibly delectable.

Date Night Dinner with a Table for Two

An exceptional romantic dinner for two is a tall order for some cities, but not Wisconsin Dells. The community’s wonderful supper club heritage comes into play here, with lovely architectural details and topnotch service sealing the deal.

Let’s start at the Del-Bar, a storied restaurant designed by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. This supper club opened in 1939 and remains the preferred choice for many couples for a special night out. Start at the bar with a cocktail, then head to your corner table, draped in crisp white linens and within view of the restaurant’s impressive wine cellar, and begin the difficult process of choosing an entrée. The pan-fried walleye is a favorite here. For vegetarians, the vegetable platter really is remarkable. Add an apple and kale salad and French onion soup. Share a strawberry Schaum torte dessert.

House of Embers has a well-earned reputation as the place to pop the question. Could be the romantic private booths for two that radiate a definite engagement vibe. Begin the evening with a glass of fine wine and escargot appetizer in the lounge warmed by the fireplace. For the main course, say “yes” to their signature hickory smoked baby back barbecued ribs. Finish with the Grand Marnier crème brûlée.

A pair of steak restaurants in Wisconsin Dells are next on this list. Field’s at the Wilderness serves up a modern take on Prairie-style architecture with glass doors, stone hearth fireplaces, and distinct water features. Try the oysters and the lobster bisque – you won’t be disappointed – and add the champignon brie to your steak order. At Double Cut Charcoal Grill/Liquor Bar, steaks are cooked over hot coals. Their new Redd’s Piano Bar is now open so enjoy an after-dinner drink while you listen to the piano entertainment. You’ll find the red theming throughout is serendipitous for Valentine’s Day.

While Sarento’s at the Wilderness is, technically, an Italian bistro, it also would fit any list of seafood restaurants in Wisconsin Dells. The shrimp marinara, marinated salmon, scampi oreganata, and linguini frutti-d’mare are all proof of that. As you’d expect, tiramisu and cannoli are the favored sweet treats on the menu. Live music is a lovely complement to the meal experience.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Ideas with a View

If you equate fine dining in Wisconsin Dells with a spectacular view, then you’ll fall in love with these choices.

Kaminski’s Chop House at Chula Vista Resort is perched high over the Wisconsin River. Get dressed up for your evening at Kaminski’s and savor every moment. The menu star here is hand-cut, dry-aged beef. The shareable sides, including fully loaded mashed potatoes and asparagus with hollandaise sauce, are mouthwatering too. Given the portion sizes here, the two of you will get to enjoy leftovers too.

With a name like The Vue, you just know this restaurant deserves a spot on this list. Overlooking a bend in the Wisconsin River, this waterfront dining choice is straight out of a romance novel. The menu is populated with contemporary American cuisine choices including pan seared walleye and New York strip steak. The s’more hot chocolate cake sounds like a romantic way to end the meal.

Couple enjoying cocktails at Grateful Shed

High Rock Café in downtown Wisconsin Dells has a casual ambiance perfect for conversation and planning your future together. Ask for a corner table upstairs to take in the sights of the historic downtown district. Trust us, try the Truffle Shuffle (Wisconsin cheese curds tossed with truffle oil and parmesan cheese), the garlic shrimp Soprano Sandwich, and the Pop Rock Cheesecake. A full menu of signature cocktails is equally tempting.

Even when covered in snow, the view of the golf course at Trappers Turn is lovely. The culinary team at the clubhouse restaurant will be happy to whip up a classic alfredo or shrimp tempura for the two of you. On a side note, their old-fashioned cocktails feature brandy from the local Wollersheim Distillery a memorable touch.

Unexpected Valentine’s Dinner Idea

If you and the love of your life gravitate to food trucks on your travels, then pop into Grateful Shed, an indoor food truck experience with food trucks serving tacos, pizza, grilled cheese, and sweet treats. And special for Valentine’s Day weekend, enjoy dinner and a show with their Drag Me to Valentine’s event on Friday night and brunch on Saturday.

Return in the Spring for This Date Night Dinner

Ishnala Supper Club, on the tranquil shore of Mirror Lake State Park, is only open seasonally, but it will be worth the wait, we promise. Split a shrimp cocktail, then be willing to share the tantalizing roast Wisconsin duck and the prime rib. While Ishnala does not take reservations, diners don’t mind. After all, there’s that great view to be enjoyed with one of their award-winning Old Fashioned cocktails in hand.

P.S. Once the engagement produces a “yes,” time to plan the wedding, and Wisconsin Dells has romantic venues for that too.
