Until the Last Leaf Drops

Moccasins at Winnebago Gift Shop

When fall arrives, the pace slows down a bit in Wisconsin Dells. With school back in session, days growing shorter, and temperatures turning crisp, it’s the ideal time for grown-ups to explore to their heart’s content. Here are eight great activities that fit the grown-up bill.

  1. Ziplining and ropes courses. Let out a scream of delight while soaring through the beautiful fall foliage on zipline courses. There’s BigFoot Zipline Tours, Vertical Illusions-Zip Line/Kayak/Rock Climbing Adventure Center, and Wilderness Canyon Zip Line Canopy Tour. But don’t stop there. Test your agility at Bigfoot Ropes Course, Dells Adventure Tours-Vertical Adventure Guides rock climbing, and Dells Zipline Adventures aerial course.
  2. Scenic boat or Duck tour. The Wisconsin River is spectacular in the fall. Same goes for Lake Delton. Be sure to have cameras ready to capture the colorama.
  3. Hiking. With a trio of state parks all close-by – Devil’s Lake State Park, Mirror Lake State Park and Rocky Arbor State Park – you can get in all your steps while you soak up the scenery.
  4. Wine tours. There isn’t a prettier time to visit area wineries, including Baraboo Bluff Winery, Fawn Creek Winery, Prairie Hawk Winery, and Wollersheim Winery & Distillery, or make it a day and schedule a wine tour with Dells Trolley Tours.
  5. Date night at a supper club. Make it a special evening out at Del-Bar, Field’s at the Wilderness, Double Cut Steakhouse, House of Embers, or Kaminski’s Chop House At Chula Vista Resort. Don’t dilly-dally if Ishnala Supper Club is what you crave – their final day of the season is Sunday, Oct. 28.
  6. Spa. Oh, the choices you have, with many resorts having spas right on premise. Or spend the night at Sundara Inn & Spa-they’ve just completed a 40,000 square foot expansion.
  7. Golf. From beginners to those with handicap bragging rights, we have a course for you. The fall foilage at Trappers Turn Golf Club, Wild Rock Golf Club at the Wilderness, Cold Water Canyon Golf Course at Chula Vista Resort, Spring Brook Golf Course and Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Driving Range is worth the price of a tee time.
  8. Shop. Take a stroll downtown. Buy some fudge at the Original Wisconsin Dells Fudge, caramel apples at Swiss Maid Fudge and popcorn at Oodlesmack Popcorn. Keep all the deliciousness all to yourself!
