The Waterpark Capital’s Take on Outdoor Waterparks

Are you jumping for joy that it’s outdoor waterpark season? Of course you are. We all are! Here’s a rundown of outdoor waterparks to guide your Wisconsin Dells vacation planning.

The summer season in Wisconsin Dells means lots of things to lots of people. River tours. Amusement parks. Animal attractions. Downtown souvenir shopping. Live entertainment.

Yet, more than anything, it means outdoor waterpark fun. Let’s take a look at the many ways to splash around in the famous waterparks of Wisconsin Dells.

America’s Largest Outdoor Waterpark

If you’ve never been to Noah’s Ark Waterpark, make this the summer to check this off your bucket list. It really is an amazing attraction, all 70 acres, filled with signature waterslides, water coasters, vertical drop plunge rides, looping trapdoor waterslides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and kiddie play areas with geysers and swings. Be sure to pack water shoes as you’ll want to trek the entire place. The biggest fans of Noah’s Ark know the attraction even offers season passes, how cool is that!

Mega Waterparks at Area Resorts

Let’s call them the Fab Five. We’re talking about the largest and most famous of the country’s waterpark resorts – Wilderness Resort, Chula Vista Resort, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, Great Wolf Lodge, and Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park. Trust us, each one is deserving of an overnight visit, because you’ll need more than an afternoon to fully enjoy everything these resorts have to offer. Daredevils in the group should head straight to the plunge slides. Families who like to ride together can take to the multi-person tube slides. Toddlers in the group won’t be left out either, with zero-depth pools aplenty. A special shoutout to Mt. Olympus, where they’ve just debuted America’s first rotating waterslide.

Mid-size Waterpark Pools at Dells Hotels

For families traveling with little ones, here’s a tip: Book a stay at a mid-size waterpark hotel where the kiddos can find their sea legs in short order. Cute, themed waterpark hotels dot the landscape in the Dells, such as Atlantis Family Waterpark Hotel, Grand Marquis Waterpark Hotel & Suites, Wingate by Wyndham – Wisconsin Dells Waterpark, and Meadowbrook Resort. Holiday Inn Express is another solid choice with a heated outdoor pool.

A Campground with a Water Playland

Creating a camping experience that includes a waterpark-like attraction? Genius! Yogi Bear Camp-Resort & Water Playground features a pool with 25 water features and four waterslides plus there’s an activity pool with water basketball that teens love. Now that’s the kind of camping experience families can get behind.

Coming This Summer: USA’s Largest Inflatable Waterpark

The Land of Natura is like your own private state park. This natural adventure park features the world’s largest naturally filtered lake complete with the country’s largest inflatable waterpark. The family that owns The Land of Natura also owns Aloha Beach Resort on Lake Delton and Natura Treescape Resort with the area’s first natural waterpark lagoon.
