2012-02-13One word: amazing! There is definitely something for ALL ages!
2011-02-09Went 3 weeks ago and had a blast. My mom, grandma,me,and my little sisters went. We went to wild west, wild waterdome, and Klondike kavern. I went on all the water slides and got ice cream and snow cones. We ordered pizza on the last night. The wave pool was my favorite. I splashed into the waves and got knocked over sometimes but it was awesome. I hope I go some other time and go to different waterparks.
2010-12-23i took my daughter and a few of her friends forher 13th birthday and we had a BLAST!

The water parks were great and there was sooo much to do. The casino, the hang out hot spot where you can get your dance on!!!! What happened there, will surely stay there!!!!!! wisconsin-dells-tours-17Ride a DUCK

See the Dells in amusing style. The banter of the drivers is good clean comedy, and the scenery on land and water is a sight to behold, up close and personal.

Let Dells homemade fudge melt in your mouth. Buy a caramel apple, dipped multiple times for good measure, for midnight snacking.

Honestly, the Tommy Bartlett Show is synonymous with Wisconsin Dells and is one of the most fun Wisconsin Dells attractions. Remember, don't try all those tricks at home. Leave it to the professionals.

In addition to being the "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®", the Dells is also considered the country's mini-golf and go-kart capital.

Waterpark Essentials: Must-Haves To Make The Most Of Your Day In The Dells

Waterpark FAQs: A Refresher

We want your waterpark experience in “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®” to be a great one, so we thought it might be helpful to put together a refresher on Waterpark Essentials. Here’s a list of what to bring, what to leave home and how to make the most of your day at the waterparks in Wisconsin Dells.

Remember to Bring

  • A swimsuit or two
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Sunglasses – bonus if they’re polarized to cut down on glare from the water
  • Cell phone to stay in touch and waterproof bag for safe stowing
  • Footwear – flip flops or water shoes are both good choices to protect your feet as you walk from one waterslide to the next to the next
  • Biggest, thirstiest beach towel you have
  • Swimsuit cover-up for the stroll back to your room or the car
  • Swim goggles - great for the wave pools
  • Quarters for storage lockers
  • Waterproof camera
  • Don’t Ignore This One
  • Two sets of car keys – keep them in separate places in case you lose one
  • Leave at Home
  • Jewelry – you don’t want to lose it and you can’t wear it on extreme waterslides anyway

Important Safety Rules

  • Follow the directions of the lifeguards.
  • Read and obey all the precaution signs posted at the rides, slides and pools.
  • Know your limits, especially if you don’t know how to swim. Ask for a life jacket as you enter the park.  Children under a certain age may be required to wear a life jacket.
  • Keep an eye out for little ones, always. (Speaking of little ones, swim diapers required.)
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Walk, don’t run.
  • Arrange a meeting time and place (be specific – next to the wave pool won’t cut it) to occasionally check in with the rest of your group.

Now have fun!

Spring Break In The Dells Is An Event Unto Itself

Automotion Wisconsin DellsOfficially, the Dells hosts one spring event and it's called Automotion. It's a great little car show that's turned into a great big car show. Unofficially, they host a second spring event, and it's called spring break. Who would have thought even five years ago that Wisconsin Dells would be a hot spring break destination? Mind you, we're not talking exclusively college students. We're talking families, and lots of them.

Indoor Water Parks Wisconsin DellsIt started innocently enough, according to Romy Snyder, who heads up the local Visitor Bureau. Families with school-age children, from grade-schoolers to teenagers, were looking for a place to chill out during the school break without getting on a plane or a cruise ship. The indoor Wisconsin Dells water park resorts were just the ticket. "It was a 'perfect storm' scenario -- close by, good value, enough variety to satisfy the entire family and the world's best water parks. And when it caught on, this place was jumping," said Snyder.

So, if you're looking for a cure for cabin fever that's kid-friendly and parent-approved, the Dells may be the hot spot you've been looking for. A word of advice -- make your reservations early. That way you won't disappoint the kids.

Rid Yourself Of Convention Guilt

The notice arrives in your in-basket. The annual convention, or quarterly board meeting, or corporate retreat, presence mandatory. You can picture it already - walled in with no windows for days on end, PowerPoint overload, your family calling each evening to complain about you never being at home. While the water parks in Wisconsin Dells were built with the vacationer in mind, they've evolved to take on an even nobler cause - rescuing business travelers from the blahs and turning those same frequent meeting goers into heroes with their kids.

The success of the water park craze in Wisconsin Dells created a new opportunity for local business owners - the chance to become a destination for meetings and conventions. Brilliant really, given how time-stretched so many Americans are these days, struggling to find a balance between work and family life, never taking all their allotted vacation days. So businesses, especially the water park resorts, strategically expanded, with conference and convention space, world-class spas, championship golf courses, luxury condominiums and larger-than-most suites, and great restaurants.

So who is the typical target for this water-park-turned-meeting-place strategy? Meet Mark Paget. He's a lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and current executive director of the Wisconsin Dental Association, which represents 3,000 dentists throughout the state. Mark has planned meetings in Wisconsin Dells, as well as having signed up for meetings held in the community that were planned by others. Whenever possible, his wife and three kids, ages 15, 13 and 11, tag along, happy for some quality time with Mark and some quality time in the water parks.

"It's definitely an advantage for me and members of my associations, especially those with young families, to combine business with pleasure," explained Mark. "I've attended meetings at the Kalahari and Chula Vista and have a meeting coming up in June at the Wilderness." So what does Mark's family do while he's tied up in meetings? "The boys love to golf, and all three can't get enough of the water parks. My wife likes the water parks too. She likes to relax poolside with a good book.

We asked Mark were we would find him after a day of meetings. "I try to catch up with the family at the water parks. I've even tried the surf machine at the Kalahari. I didn't do too badly, no injuries, but my kids still made fun of me. We make it a point to try all the water park rides.

Mark could easily be considered one of the early adopters of this combo meeting/vacation trend as evidenced by this quip: "We've been coming to the Dells long enough that the kids are starting to reminisce about past trips. They sound like old-timers, starting their stories with, 'Remember when' and finishing up talking about the new rides that have been added since they last visited.

As an aside, it's worth mentioning that the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort and Chula Vista Resort have seen such a success in hosting conferences that they've both recently decided to add to their meeting space. Glacier Canyon Lodge at the Wilderness grew by more than 31,000 square feet with the addition of another banquet room, more breakout space, a business center and outdoor banquet space. Meanwhile Chula Vista Resort added 15,000 more square feet of conference and flexible meeting space.

And with that news, this story is adjourned.

Wisconsin Dells annually hosts in excess of 5,600 meetings and conventions, anywhere from a small meeting of 10 up to a large conference of more than 1,000. The Visitor Bureau even has staff dedicated to this particular area of travel.
