Wisconsin Dells is a vibrant vacation destination all year long, but the fun really ramps up when Memorial Day rolls around. "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®" goes big for summer's unofficial kickoff, welcoming visitors with thrilling outdoor attractions and waterparks.

Whether you’re looking to cool off in a lazy river, hike through sandstone bluffs, or cruise the Wisconsin River at sunset, there is no shortage of things to do in Wisconsin Dells on Memorial Day weekend. Here’s an insider’s guide to making the most of your visit.

Memorial Day Activities in Wisconsin Dells

Splash into Summer this Memorial Day with Waterparks Galore

Memorial Day weekend marks the opening of most outdoor waterparks in Wisconsin Dells, and Noah’s Ark Waterpark is the crown jewel. As the largest waterpark in America, it boasts 51 slides, two wave pools, a surf simulator, and plenty of kid-friendly splash zones. Rides like Scorpion’s Tail and Black Anaconda will satisfy thrill-seekers, while families can relax on the Adventure River or build sandcastles at Big Kahuna Kiddie Area.

For a different type of outdoor waterpark experience, check out Land of Natura. Situated on a man-made lake, it is America’s largest floating waterpark. This 150-acre natural theme park also offers an 1,100-ft. treetop walkway.

Rain or shine, the fun doesn’t stop here. Along with outdoor waterparks, "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®" is also home to 11 indoor waterparks, including Kalahari Resort Waterparks, Wilderness Resort Waterpark, Chula Vista Resort, Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park, and Great Wolf Lodge. All of them offer year-round aquatic fun with features like lazy rivers, water slides, mat racers, bowls and plunges, and massive play structures.

Scenic Boat and Duck Tours

One of the most iconic Wisconsin Dells experiences is seeing the towering sandstone cliffs and canyons known as the Dells of the Wisconsin River – which are particularly beautiful from the water. Several boat tour options are available over Memorial Day weekend, including:

  • Dells Boat Tours® – Enjoy two family- and pet-friendly tours. The Upper Dells Tour includes stops at Witches Gulch and the legendary Stand Rock, while the Lower Dells Tour offers a shorter ride packed with scenic rock formations and natural beauty.
  • Dells Boat Tours® Sunset Dinner Cruise – Add a little romance or relaxation to your evening with food, drinks, live music, and panoramic views.
  • Jet Boat Adventures & Wildthing Jet Boats – High-speed thrills for adrenaline junkies who like a splash (or ten). A perfect way to cool down on a hot day.
  • And of course, don’t miss a ride on Original Wisconsin Ducks® or Dells Army Duck Tours – WWII amphibious vehicles that bounce between land and water in a splashy, fun, and slightly nostalgic way.

Family Fun Beyond the Water

Wisconsin Dells isn’t just about the water. There’s a ton to do on land, too. Some family-favorite spots include:
