How Many of These New Attractions Do You Plan to Visit?

You’ve heard the expression, “just when you think it couldn’t get any better.” Well, suffice it to say that expression could have been expressly written for this story, the annual rundown of what’s new in Wisconsin Dells. And for 2022, let’s just say the new attractions are over the top in all the best ways.

Without further ado, here’s an overview of the new attractions and experiences coming to you from the world’s waterpark capital, with a large portion of this story dedicated to big waterpark news!

Waterpark News for 2022

It’s only fitting that we get right to the biggest waterpark news of all, and that comes from Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park Resort, where they've built America’s first rotating waterslide. It’s called Medusa’s Slidewheel and it’s an indoor waterslide set on a horizontal axis with the entire ride rotating while guests whip through it. We’re talking speed, g-force, and airtime my friends. The resort has added 22,000 square feet to the indoor waterpark to make room for a new kiddie splash zone and a swimming area.

At Wilderness Resort’s indoor Wild West Waterpark, “dueling” is the word of the day, as in dueling slides with multiple “rally points” where you can see your competition as you dash down the slides.

We turn to Chula Vista Resort, for some colorful news where they’ve created a new waterslide attraction in their indoor waterpark with a rainbow-stripe look on the outside and a multicolor-hued light effect on the inside.

You could say the fun comes naturally at Natura Destination’s family of properties. Let’s start with their Aloha Beach Resort, where they’ve added an inflatable waterpark right on the waters of Lake Delton. Across the way at their Natura Treescape Resort, you’ll find new tiny homes with views to Wisconsin Dells’ first natural waterpark lagoon. But wait, there’s more. Their newest development, a natural adventure park called The Land of Natura, opens in time for summer vacation season, and features the world’s largest naturally filtered lake complete with an inflatable waterpark and the largest treetop canopy tour in North America.

Family Attractions Elevating the Fun Quotient

Wizard questers, take note, as the popular Wizard Quest attraction has relocated to the 400 block of Broadway, a location that allowed it to nearly triple the size of its original location.

Booby Trap Escape Rooms has new themed rooms – we especially like the new Slime Lab where you create your own souvenir slime while trying to escape. DOA Room Escape at Wilderness on the Lake is introducing a “Mission Mars” challenge.

You’re never too old for some tomfoolery at Tom Foolerys Adventure Park with new axe throwing for the grownups. The little ones aren’t left out either, with new mini bowling and blacklight mini-golf sure to delight them.

No need to wait until Halloween to visit The Haunted Mansion, given they’ve added new scary scenes to this walk-thru attraction. Same goes for Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum with nearly all the weird exhibits there new for 2022.

Say hello to the two new red pandas, Ping and Puck, at Timbavati Wildlife Park. The pair can be observed in both an outdoor area and an indoor environment.

New suites at Sundara Inn & Spa.

Dinner, Drinks Anyone?

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions has added a new watering hole, Redd’s Piano Bar. In addition to live entertainment, it features a huge wine list and hand-crafted cocktails.

A converted 1909 mansion in downtown Dells is now home to Latte Stone Brewing Co., a nano-brewpub with a unique tapas menu featuring tastes of the Pacific Islands and a large outdoor beer garden that’s pet-friendly.

Koselig Garden is a new restaurant with taproom at the Vennebu Hill event center. In Norwegian, koselig means cozy, and cozy garden this is with a menu that includes both Norwegian and Wisconsin specialties.

Broken Bottle Winery added a kitchen, so now devotees of their wine can also enjoy pizzas and snacks.

Finally, Lake City Social Grill & Bar deserves an award for its menu that pleases both adults and kids and for its super family-friendly dining room too.

A Call of the Outdoors

Talk about a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. The new suites at Sundara Inn & Spa incorporate biophilic design by way of private patios, some with outdoor fireplaces and heated oversized soaks. While a guest, plan to take in a free yoga class on their new open-air yoga deck.

Elms Street Plaza rendering.

It’s easier than ever to get out on the water now that Dells Watersports has a brand new showroom and expanded its product line offerings to include new pontoons, deck boats, kayaks, and fishing boats.

Bonus: A New Plaza in Downtown Dells, Read All About It!

Have you heard the news - Wisconsin Dells is getting a new gathering spot downtown! It’s called the Elm Street Plaza, an impressive 35,000 square foot destination unto itself, with stage for free nightly entertainment and interactive water features including geysers and fountains. Stay tuned for a schedule of farmers’ markets, pop-up markets, and seasonal celebrations.
